Let’s team up to promote your business! I can come interview you for a funny video for your social media, you can be the official sponsor of my daily videos, you provide products that I can give away for contests… There are tons of options. Read on!
As you can see at joshrachlis.com/copywriter, I’m a Senior Copywriter and have created award-winning ads for the biggest brands in the world. And as you can see from the rest of this site, I create funny, entertaining video, audio and cartoon content for my loyal fans who know me from TV, radio and social media. I interview celebrities on red carpets and have millions of views on YouTube, I’m “Verified” as a Public Figure on Facebook, and popular magazines and radio stations follow me on Instagram and Twitter.
We can come up with new ideas for how best to get your message out there, since your business is unique. For instance, if you make a bag for travellers, I could use your bag and vlog about my travels, always mentioning how the bag has helped me. If you’re a hotel, I could stay at your hotel and vlog about my experiences. If you’re a weight loss product, I could try it out and keep my viewers updated on my progress. It all depends on what your business is. But here are some options to start thinking about:
I’ll interview your about your business
I can talk to you in person or over webcam about your business. Don’t worry if you don’t think you sound all that funny or interesting. I’ll bring the funny! As a copywriter, I know all about taking your brand’s selling points and making them interesting. Here are some fun interviews I’ve done with the owners of stores and companies.
Here’s a playlist of interviews I did at the Live The Smart Way Expo in Ottawa, on Nov. 11, 2017:
Here’s a playlist of interviews I did at Social Media Week Toronto in November, 2017:
I interviewed the owner of Union Juice at their store opening in 2015:
I interviewed the owner of Mila’s Shoes in 2017:
I interviewed the owner of Gabila’s Knishes in 2017:
You’ll be in good company (celebrity company!), because I interview celebrities on the red carpet and in more intimate settings set up by PR firms:
Haley Lu Richardson
Jim Carrey (ok, I was so nervous meeting him that I couldn’t speak!)
James Franco
The director and stars of Egyptian film Sheikh Jackson
I’ll come film a funny exploration of your business
Conan O’Brien films remote reports of businesses like the Guinness brewery. James Corden does a series called “Take a break”, where he works at organizations like Starbucks and GAP. If you can get Conan and Corden to come to your business, do it! If not, get me!
If you have a store, a mall or festival, I could walk around making funny observations and interviewing people. Here are some examples of explorations I’ve done on my own:
I explored the Everything To Do With Sex show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in 2011:
I explored Nuit Blanche, the all-night art festival, in 2012:
I explored The Artist Project and interviewed the artists in 2012:
I explored Winter Stations, an art exhibit on the beach in the freezing cold, in 2016:
I explored the Star Trek exhibit at the CNE in 2016:
Partner with my daily celebrity gossip YouTube videos
• I could open my daily videos with a shout-out to your business and its benefits.
• I could feature your logo on the video thumbnail image.
• In the middle of the video, I could break for a mini commercial, mentioning your product again in an entertaining way like a joke, a puppet skit, a song or cartoon, to keep viewers hooked.
Check out an example celebrity gossip video:
Contests
My friend Carolyn Wilman is the famous Contest Queen, and she advises me on how to most effectively run a contest. You could donate a sample of your product or service as a prize, which I could award to one of my subscribers or commenters. The frequency could vary – There could be a prize with a video daily, weekly, or monthly.
Naming rights
Sponsor an aspect of my studio or my life. For instance, if you name my studio in my condo, I could announce that I’m broadcasting from the “(Your Business) Studio”. And I could have a sign with your logo that’s visible in the videos.
Custom comedy video about your product
I could make an entertaining product review or commercial where I test out your product and talk about its benefits. I’ll post it on all my social media, and you can post it anywhere you want.
A standup act! In 2007, when I worked as a Copywriter at Leo Burnett Advertising, the Creative Director for Procter & Gamble asked me to write and perform a stand-up act that would incorporate multiple uses for Bounce Dryer Sheets. So I wrote an act and performed it at an actually comedy club amateur night:
A webseries! Also when I was a copywriter at Leo Burnett, a Creative Director asked me to make a funny webseries about me trying to get celebrities to try Orville Redenbacher Select White popcorn. So I created the celebrity hunter persona Celebrity Josh and shot 7 episodes:
A song! On my own, I decided to write a song about the Green Party leader, to spread a positive environmental message during the 2011 Canadian Federal Election. The song went viral and was featured all over the media, and the Green Party credits it with Elizabeth’s election as the first Green MP in Canada:
A Creative Director asked me to write a song about Bick’s Pickles, for a mock telethon they were filming to team up pickles with burgers. I wrote a song and played it for the clients:
And then they hired an actress to sing it:
Imagine me writing a funny song and playing it in a funny video, all about your business or product. Here’s a song I wrote about Mark Zuckerberg’s sister Randi Zuckerberg, which helps promote her media business:
I wrote this song to help promote Jessica Chastain’s movie The Zookeeper’s Wife:
I wrote this song to help promote Al Gore’s movie An Inconvenient Sequel:
Links in YouTube video descriptions
I can put links to your products below my videos. For instance, if I’m using your microphone, wearing a shirt with my logo that you printed, or sitting on the chair you make, I can give people links to get those items for themselves.
Custom cartoon
• On your business’ theme: Here’s a cartoon I drew about dating, brought to you by Dashing Date, Canada’s premiere dating service. They posted it on their social media.
And here’s an example of a cartoon about staying healthy that I drew for SoapWorks to put on their soap displays in health food stores:
• Specifically about your business: I can create a cartoon that integrates your business, so it’s more of an ad or branded content. Here’s an award-winning newsletter I illustrated for James Ready Beer:
Partner with this website
• You could be featured on joshrachlis.com – The site you’re reading now. In addition to being in the YouTube videos and cartoons that I’ll be posting, you could have a banner ad on the site, or a custom-made ad like a cartoon or a video.
